IT for accounting & financial firms

Protect client financial data, support FTC Safeguards Rule requirements, and keep your team working through deadline season and beyond.

The challenge

Client trust runs on secure data.

Accounting, tax, and financial firms hold exactly what criminals want: Social Security numbers, bank details, and tax records. Under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, tax and accounting professionals are treated as financial institutions, and federal law requires them to keep a written plan for protecting client information.

Most firms don’t have the staff to build that program, keep it current, and keep systems running when deadlines hit. That’s where we come in.

FAQ

Accounting and financial IT questions

Does the FTC Safeguards Rule apply to my firm?

It applies to many businesses the FTC considers financial institutions, including tax and accounting professionals, mortgage brokers, non-bank lenders, and some financial advisors. We can help you understand what it asks of your systems; your attorney or compliance advisor has the final word on whether it applies.

Can you help us create a Written Information Security Plan?

Yes. We help you document your safeguards, assess risks, and keep the plan current as your firm and its systems change.

Do you support our tax and accounting software?

We support the computers, network, cloud services, and security your software runs on, and we work with your software vendors when issues come up.

What happens if we have a security incident?

We help contain the threat, restore systems, and document what happened. If unencrypted information of 500 or more people is involved, the Safeguards Rule requires notifying the FTC no later than 30 days after discovery, and we help you gather what that report needs.
